An electric revolution is taking place in the automotive industry, triggered primarily by Elon Musk and his success with Tesla. Find out why Tesla is so successful and which strategies are used at Tesla in our Tesla Story. 

A large number of new battery electric vehicle (BEV) companies have been launched around the world, and new brands have been created. Even experts find it difficult to keep track of them all. 

To provide more transparency, we have sorted BEV start-ups and BEV brands according to different criteria:

  • BEV start-ups founded by ambitious entrepreneurs in response to Tesla
  • New BEV brands created by combustion engine manufacturers, primarily in China
  • BEV joint venture created by an IT or supplier company with an established automaker as a collaborative partner 
  • New-country start-ups in countries that have not yet had their own auto industry or auto brands   
  • Solar start-ups that develop vehicles with solar cells

Even the established manufacturers of combustion vehicles, some of which are over 100 years old, have long since reacted to the electric revolution and are developing electric vehicles for their established model ranges and brands.
